ADEGA DE CANTANHEDE, Wines with Character

The Adega de Cantanhede, founded in 1954, by about 100 associated winegrowers, is located in the city of Cantanhede. The Mediterranean climate and the proximity of the sea, together with the argillaceous and calcareous soil have contributed since the Roman period to the great development of the viticulture in this region. Nowadays, with about 1,300 associated winegrowers and a total wine-growing area of 1,123 ha, the annual production fluctuates between 7 and 8 million kilos of grapes. New kinds of wines such as the varietal ones were introduced in the market, where the genuine grape varieties of Bairrada, like Baga, Bical and Maria Gomes play a prominent part. Our cellar, which main brand is Marquês de Marialva, has also a wide range of products: red, white, rosé wines, sparkling wines, liquors and spirits. For this reason, it is considered the most important wine-cellar producer of Bairrada, certifying about 80% of its production with the D.O.C. Bairrada and Regional Beiras appellations. The Adega de Cantanhede is a reference in the quality wine market, its products being nationally and internationally rewarded and being exported to the principal and most demanding wine consumer markets such as Germany, France, Canada, United States of America, Switzerland, Benelux, South Africa, Northern countries, Macau...
