Light Castle Winery

Light Castle winery is situated in the region of Ivailovgrad and has its own vineyards in the villages of Belopolyane and Svirachi, in the south-eastern tip of the Rhodope Mountains. The region boats some of Bulgarian's best soil and climate conditions for growing high-quality varieties of red grapes. The local climate is trabnsitional Mediterranean, and the elevation is between 70 and 350 m. The annual summed temperature is over 4000 C. The soil where the vines are grown can be charracterized black soil with a high concetration of sand and clay and a medium concentration of stones. In 2004 we planted our first 23 ha with the following varieties: Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, selected according to the soil and climate conditions of our region. In 2006 we planted 32 more hectares, adding the following varieties: Sangiovese, Pinot Noir and Tempranillo.

Our vines are in the process of being as BIO-FOOD, after which they will be marked as organic products.

The wines are a pure natural product of fermentation with no added components and we also use very low concentrations of sulphur dioxide.

The most common and recognizable brands of our wines are TRENDAFIL (a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) and ROZALINA (Merlot rose).
