To find the right speciality to go with wine is not always very easy. The special show “Wine’s best friends” explains how it is done. In collaboration with the magazine “Der Feinschmecker”, selected suppliers offer delicacies which increase the enjoyment of wines and spirits even more.
Should the different aromas complement each other or are strong contrasts better? Which wine goes with which food? How can you accentuate the harmony of certain fl avours? These and many more aspects will be dealt with in the special show “Wine’s best friends” – based, of course, on numerous practical examples. Let the many new taste impressions melt in your mouth!

Nowadays, many trends appear on a global scale. The wish to enjoy
individual creations and to discover authentic values is growing ever larger.
That is why authentic wines which embody regional growing conditions
as well as specifi c wine profi les are playing a crucial role in the international markets. Therefore, in 2012, the Tasting Zone of ProWein – in cooperation with the trade journal “WEINWIRTSCHAFT”–will feature established wines of origin.

White, red and rosé wines will be presented, which are selected according to strict conditions:
- products are based on a wine of origin concept or wines correspond to traditional wine profi les of the relevant country
- wines share the same name as the area of origin, region, geographical position or location which is normally smaller than a member state
- wines owe their quality and character to the prevailing geographic and climatic conditions as well as other natural and human infl uences at the location
- grapes must originate exclusively from the relevant location
- production must take place in the country of origin of the grapes

Sustainability and ecological viticulture are the global trend.
Numerous vintners present sustainably grown ecological products at their stands. Furthermore, the trade journal “WEINWIRTSCHAFT“ offers a concentrated selection of international top wines from this segment in the special show “Ecological and Organic Wines”.

Original pleasure: The suppliers present their wines and spirits at their stands with passion and competence. They give you insight into their know-how and introduce the interested parties to the current developments.

Numerous accompanying events, such as information sessions, seminars and expert talks, will take place. They include the subjects of terroirs, methods of cultivation, varietals, storage, styles, specialities and much more.

Take 5: Argentina, Chile, California, New Zealand and South Africa are the five wine countries of the “New World”, which are drawing attention upon themselves with the innovative marketing initiative Down2Earth. This initiative acquaints the trade and gastronomy with the still undiscovered possibilities of these wine producing regions. Exciting tastings to go with various themes, an informative lecture and seminar programme as well as many presentations carve out a path into the New World for you in an enjoyable and tasteful way.

Infusions, bitters and co. – the trend is leaning towards individuality and thus towards own creations. More and more barkeepers create highly original recipes using special ingredients. This leads to surprising taste sensations. The
stars of the scene will present what they create in their laboratories at the bar counter of the FIZZZ Lounge.
